PAK-TAK-TAK-TAK-TAK-TAK-TAK!!! That’s the sound your AR is going to make as it effortlessly chugs through this big box of 223 Rem ammunition. Hornady’s Frontier ammo is designed to let you shoot however you please while you’re gracing the range with your beautiful presence.
This round features a tried and true 55 grain FMJ. That’s the standard weight which any rifle enthusiast worth their salt is accustomed to, and the standard bullet you want for reliable feeding, a cleaner barrel, and predictable ballistic performance after every shot. The FMJ isn’t designed to fan out and do more damage inside of a living target, but it’s not precisely the best thing that could happen to a living target, either. This round’s 3,240 fps muzzle velocity is only 10 fps slower than the Army’s M193 ball load!
That’s not a manufacturing defect you’re seeing on this round’s new brass shell casing. It was made by the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, which means its neck is heat-treated to promote superior suppleness for cleaner ignition and repeated reloadability. Frontier loads also feature military grade primers and propellant, so they’re a picture of reliability! (Handloaders take note that those are indeed crimped primers.)
