This is a rare and highly desirable Zero Series Walther P.38, part of the first variation run of these pistols. Only about 1,000 of these pistols were produced and very few exist in such condition. The pistol is all matching and original with about 93-94% high-polish blue remaining. There is standard muzzle wear, as well as a few patches of finish loss on the slide and frame. But overall, the bluing is excellent for this variation. The only knock on this pistol is that some proofs were added to the frame, slide and barrel. They appear to say ‘CIP over N’ and the number ’19’ in a shield. Tried researching these marks and best I could find is that CIP over N may have recently replaced the Eagle/N proof, so this could be done recently but not certain. Serial number means this would be the 634th P.38 ever made. The grips are matching numbered to the pistol, and the magazine is mismatched and would be correct for an early ’41 example. Bore is shiny and strong with only minor frost. Concealed extractor and rectangular firing pin are present and correct. Good mechanics, including de-cocker.
